Dear WIS Families,

Welcome to a brand new school year! I hope your family had a wonderful summer and is looking forward to all the excitement that comes with a fresh start.

For those I haven't had the chance to meet yet, my name is Kellie James, and I am honored to serve as your WIS PTO President this year. While many of you may know me from my time as Hurlbutt PTO President, this year feels especially meaningful for our family. My younger son, Caden, is beginning 3rd grade at WIS, while my older son, Weston, has officially moved on to Weston Middle School. It's bittersweet to watch one child move up while another begins this exciting new chapter, and I'm grateful to continue serving our school community during these special elementary years.

I am incredibly excited to partner with Principal D'Amico, the outstanding WIS faculty and staff, and an exceptional Executive and General Board made up of dedicated volunteers with years of experience and a shared passion for supporting our school.

At the WIS PTO, our mission is simple:

To enrich the educational experience by fostering a connected and inclusive school community, supporting teachers and staff, providing meaningful programs and resources, encouraging family involvement, and promoting opportunities that help every student thrive.

This year, our work will be guided by five priorities:

🤝 Build Community by fostering meaningful connections among students, families, teachers, and staff while creating a welcoming and inclusive school community.

🍎 Support Teachers & Staff by providing appreciation, resources, and volunteer support that enhance the educational environment and demonstrate gratitude for their dedication.

⭐ Enrich Student Experiences by funding and promoting programs, events, and traditions that enhance learning, strengthen school spirit, and create lasting memories for students.

💬 Communicate Effectively by providing timely, transparent, and consistent information that keeps families informed and encourages active participation in the school community.

❤️ Make Volunteering Rewarding by creating accessible and meaningful opportunities for all families to contribute their time, talents, and expertise in support of the PTO's mission.

None of this is possible without the support of our PTO members. Your membership directly helps fund programs, events, teacher support, and experiences that enrich every student's time at WIS. Joining the PTO is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to invest in our school community, and there is never an expectation that membership comes with a volunteer commitment.

Whether you're new to WIS or returning for another great year, I encourage you to get connected, stay informed, and find the level of involvement that works best for your family. We truly believe that when families and schools work together, our children thrive.
